iVoryTowerz Radio: Southern Fried Boogie Platter

If you're headed out on a drive down Highway 61 then you know what's on the musical menu: smoky blues-tinged rock with a hefty side order of southern fried boogie. The underground podcast piles all that and more on your musical platter this week for some sumptuous enjoyment. Don't worry if this looks too filling. We guarantee you'll be clamoring for seconds. And for those who want more than just Southern rock in their diet, we have plentiful portions of other interesting sounds for you too. Our usual homegrown recipe for sound mixes is here: take 45 years of music with a big dollop of new rock and scramble on the hot griddle. Besides the main course we also serve up: soul, sludge metal, punk, post-punk, indie rock, folk-rock, and some Scottish rock too (which if you understand the South's cultural heritage, it should fit right in nicely). Turn this one up and get cookin'!

OK, I'm a little slow on the uptake: I'm just listening to my first iVoryTowerz podcast --sorry. ... So, how about playing something from the gal who sang soulful blues in the film "Cookie's Fortune," Ruby WIlson?

K.B....Thanks for sampling. We hope you enjoyed it. If you are looking for more soulful sounds may we recommend this show . Not only is it the most popular show of 2009, but it is also our special Obama inaugural program. That sounds like just your cup o' Earl Gray.

We will put your request in the queue and let you know when it pops up in the mix.
