The iVoryTowerz blog turns two today, and we want to thank our loyal group of readers for sticking with us as the blog continues to evolve.
Regular readers know, we are not the biggest of blogs. Instead of the giants with hundreds of thousands, our regulars would fill a theater. But we appreciate every one.
The regulars have stayed with us through a major design change and a shift of our URL this summer. Also, during the past year, our group of writers continued to change and evolve. However, about 40 percent of the writing group is still from the original staff that started the blog.
The major content shift this year has been the addition of more sports. Basketball, baseball, and other sports now show up regularly throughout the year, along with the football sidebar that was part of the original blog’s formula.
The birthday content review from last year noted the major content change was a shift into politics. And now, political writing is the dominant theme on the blog, although closely followed by the usual staple of following the music industry and reviewing interesting new releases in the world of rock music. And the iVoryTowerz podcast continues providing alternative music mixes. Now, iVoryTowerz is a mix of writing about music, politics, and sports.
Experts tell us a general purpose blog, which covers multiple topics, is not what works. However, the credo of this blog has always been that the writers discuss what’s important to them and that will connect with an audience. Our constant core audience tells us that works. So we will continue to write about what is important. And if that ranges beyond the usual mix of politics, music, and sports, then so be it. The blog is also noted for its critiques of radio, television, films, and culture.
So to celebrate with us today, read a few posts from the backpages. Have some virtual cake and blow out the candles with us as we trundle into our third year.
