This is Why We Love Norman Chad

Awhile back, this blog noted the sorry state of modern sportswriting. But good criticism should do more than gripe. It should also point to examples of excellent work.

In the series, "The End of Sportswriting," this blog singled out Norman Chad as one of the few sportswriters to emulate. He proved it again this week with a withering critique of NASCAR. (Please catch his subtle references to global warming in the piece. What other sportswriter even mentions this?)

And Chad also responded to our series. Here's what he wrote us:

"A fellow ex-D.C. ne-er do-well sent me some of your postings from IvoryTowerZ.

Thanks for your kind words. Actually, you're too kind.

If you ever need me to help you picket any place, I'm available (pending weather conditions).

Norman Chad"
If we held an anti-NASCAR rally in Daytona that would probably be a lock.
