Latin Pulse Debuts
For those who get DirecTV, you may have discovered Link TV, a satellite channel devoted to documentaries and public affairs offerings.
Tonight at 9 p.m. EDT (4/3/2007), Link TV will debut a new program devoted to Latin America called Latin Pulse.
We give the program a shameless plug here because your not-so-intrepid editor has played a part in putting the program together. Some may know, the editor of this blog actually earns a living teaching classes at American University. One such class has been analyzing the the news content of Latin American television on ten networks from the region since January. The producers at Link TV have used the findings of the class to guide their program selections and topic considerations.
The first program focuses on President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, the fallout from President George W. Bush's trip to Latin America, and corruption in the region. For more details, please check here.
For those who are familiar with Link TV's award-winning program Mosaic, that may give you an idea of what you have in store if you watch Latin Pulse. Mosaic translates programs from the Islamic world for U.S. viewers so we can see what television might be saying in Lebanon, Iran, or Algeria. This is all part of an initiative to eventually translate and rebroadcast programs with analysis from all regions of the world on Link TV.
Tune in and check it out. You just might see the editor of this blog attempting to be a pundit.
(Latin Pulse will also repeat several times this month. For programming details, please consult the Link TV site.)
