Tunes & Transparency

As the experts tell us, all blogs should have a niche. Until recently though, this blog had no idea the niche would be the place where government employees come to read about music, and sometimes listen to it too.

But the software that tracks our readers, and what they like, tells us this is the case.

Of course, one must expect government employees to check out your blog when you publish in a town where the main business is government. And somewhere around 45 percent of our readers/listeners are from Washington, D.C., so this figures. But are people really streaming our podcast in their offices?

Apparently, yes.

So this is why someone at Arlington National Cemetery may be checking out Tripping Daisy. (Which is also a bit eerie, considering the passing of that band’s guitarist, Wes Berggren.)

But does this explain why government workers in Hartford, Connecticut (that state’s capital, by the way) are also listening? Is this blog now entered on some database for government workers who want music? (In Connecticut, they seem to like the podcast that is also the most popular with many visitors here.)

Finally, does this account for the fact that someone in the Justice Department has been reading the recently popular “Rage, Reunion & Revolution?” Were they attracted to it because they were interested in the music? Or did the title pique their interest? And if it was the title, what does that mean for us?

Perhaps we should just whistle a merry tune as we go on our way, oblivious to all, except the podcast streaming in our headphones as we work in our office cubicle.

Rick and Jeff,

Why do folks in state capitals flock to the podcasts?

Would it be they are government employees who have too much time on their hands? Perhaps...

Would it be that government computers are slow (as government computers often are) leading to multiple hits on your page? Maybe...

But alas, my friends. I have the real reason:

They just think you two are HOT.

:-)

Your friend,
Emmy

Emmy...

You are a big ego boost. We hope you keep listening, despite the slow servers.

(Should we suggest just downloading? That's probably verboten on those state computers.)

We hope you spread the word about us all over the Palmetto State.

We'll be back this week with your request. Promise.
